June President's Article

Words from Bill

We have had a number of great events this past month where club members participated, including Carlisle Import show/Autojumble, Rome, GA, Childress Vineyard tour and last, but not least, Vintage Racing at VIR near Danville, VA.

To me the highlight of the VIR event was seeing John and Ann Jones new condo, which seemed to be just 50 ft from the track. What a setup. Great way to watch the race from either the upper or lower deck. The dinner/party they hosted Saturday after the races was great with many club members in attendance. The races were great too, with numerous Healey’s participating, including a 100S and a 100M recently purchased from Dennis Welch of England. John Jones put on a great show for us posting a personal best  track record on the last lap of Saturdays qualifying race as he fought his way around an MGA.

Remember that we will have an auction at our meeting on the 16th to support the “Make a Wish” foundation. Please come to the meeting prepared to support this fund raiser.

Newsflash: Did you know that the motor oil most of us use in our Healeys, such as Castrol 20W-50, has been reformulated, eliminating a key additive needed to protect our engines? Come to our mini tech session at our monthly meeting on June 16th at 6:30 and find out from a panel of “experts” why most oils were reformulated, what was removed, and recommendations for oils that will not harm your Healey. The next tech session on July 21st will be “Maintenance Tips from the Pros”.
